The commissioner of Renk county in Upper Nile state announced that the African Committee for Border Demarcation is scheduled to arrive at the area on Wednesday “to identify the ‘Zero Line’ of the Sudan-South Sudan border.”
Commissioner Gout Akuei, in an interview with Radio Tamazuj, said that the environment in Renk is “calm and stable despite the recent kidnapping of farmers by members of the Sudan Armed Forces.”
Akuei confirmed that a Sudanese soldier had infiltrated Souther Sudanese territory “to rob citizens” and he was subsequently arrested in the Gimbar area.
“The civil administration between the two sides is exerting efforts to release the kidnapped farmers,” the commissioner said. A source identified the kidnapped farmers as Aliny Deng and Bol Madhoal.
