Border communities receive training on conflict resolution in Warawar

Members of Dinka Malual and Misseriya tribes last week received a 5-day training on dispute resolution in Warawar area of Northern Bahr al-Ghazal region.

During his closing remarks on Friday, the representative of the Misseriya community Ibrahim Marek reiterated his community’s commitment to support peace efforts and maintain security along the border to maintain security in the border areas.

Deng Deng Akuei, the Dinka Malual Peace Coordinator said the workshop has built the capacity of traditional authorities to resolve disputes peacefully saying the chiefs will be able to use their newly acquired skills in solving local disputes.

A representative of USAID’s Viable Support to Transition and Stability (VISTAS) Malual Alwa said their mandate is to promote peace and reconciliation among local communities. He stated that similar training is taking place in all five counties of greater Northern Bahr el Ghazal.
