Residents of Bor town in South Sudan’s Jonglei State said they lack clean drinking water since the authorities stopped providing running tap water.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday, several residents said they queue for long hours to get water from the few available boreholes as most of the boreholes have broken down.

They called on the state government to resume the supply of tap water and or renovate the broken boreholes.

Authorities from urban water which supplies the tapped clean water said they could not supply water due to a shortage of fuel to run the generators.

For his part, Machar Machol, the deputy mayor for finance and administration said they are working with the state ministry of physical infrastructure to make water available within three weeks.
