Road traffic between Central Equatoria and Jonglei State resumed normally today after a one-day closure of the road allegedly caused by armed Mundari youths who entered the area following a dispute with the Dinka Bor tribe.

Bilal Hassan, head of the Juba-Bor public transport, confirmed to Radio Tamazuj that the road was closed for one day due to the fears of Mundari youths who had crossed the Nile River at Arial-teen in large numbers from Terekaka area on the opposite bank of the river.

They came reportedly following a raid by the Bor Dinka of Kolnyang Payam who allegedly had raided a Mundari cattle camp and killed several people.

“Yesterday it was reported some criminals of cattle raiders between Mangala and Gemeiza crossed to opposite site from Terekaka to where cattle camps are located and we were informed by the area authority until cattle camp owners searched for them and did not find them,” he said

Asked about the safety of the road, Hassan commented, “I spoke with one of the intelligence from Gemeiza concerning the safety of the road and he gave go-ahead and that is why I allowed vehicles to move today.”

He said several vehicles were already getting underway to go from Juba to Bor.
