SPLA-North officials have accused the Sudanese government of carrying out bombings in Sudan’s Blue Nile state earlier this week.

Hashim Orta, a humanitarian official of the SPLM-North rebel group controlling parts of southern Blue Nile, said that the Sudan Armed Forces dropped 32 bombs on their areas including farmland and pastures.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj Friday, Orta said that the bombings targeted areas southwest of Kurmuk. He said the bombings resulted in the killing of two civilians and wounding of four others, two of whom are in critical condition.

Orta claimed that the bombing began on 12 January and intensified on 12 January. The rebel official pointed out that the bombing has caused dire humanitarian situations amid absence of relief in the area.

Radio Tamazuj could not reach the Sudanese government to comment on the matter.
