Bomb seriously wounds boy in Nuba Mountains

A boy was seriously wounded and a little girl was also hurt by a bomb explosion on Tuesday afternoon in Angartu in the Nuba Mountains, according to a source in the area.

The boy and girl reportedly threw a stone at an unexploded bomb causing it to explode.

The 12-year old boy sustained serious injuries to the abdomen and neck while the little girl was hurt in the head. They were taken for treatment at a local hospital.

One area resident said, “Anyone who has a small child should not go to Angartu. There are [dangerous] things there.” Angartu witnessed clashes between SPLA-N and the Sudanese military in January.
