The government of Boma State on Friday announced that it has delivered 44 children kidnapped last month in Gambella to the government of Ethiopia.

Julia James, the state information minister, told Radio Tamazuj that the children were among more than 100 abducted in Gambella last month.

She added that efforts are underway to assemble the rest of the children, but pointed out that there were challenges facing the state authorities to do so, including bad roads owing to season rainfall.

This announcement comes after Ethiopian troops entered into border areas of Boma State including near to Pochalla town.

Boma State is formerly known as the Greater Pibor Administrative Area (indicated in orange in the map above).
