Authorities in South Sudan’s Boma state need amble time to return all stolen cattle and abducted children from neighboring Jonglei state, a local official said.
The newly appointed minister of local government in Boma, Simon Logocho Gain, told Radio Tamazuj today that his government was still searching for the abducted Jonglei children and stolen cattle.
He pointed out that the issue will take time. The government official admitted that his government has not yet arrested any criminal. Gain claimed that the commissioners and traditional leaders were directed to bring back the abducted children and stolen cattle.
Last week, at least 30 people including women and children were reported killed in an attack on Kolmarek village in Jonglei by suspected youth from Boma state.
Deadly cattle raids are common between the Murle and Dinka Bor in greater Jonglei often including abductions of children and women as wives or to care for stolen cattle.
