Body dumped under bridge in Juba town

A man was found dead on Friday morning in Juba, South Sudan, under the first bridge along Gudele road, near the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Passersby and police officers were gathered on Friday morning at the site where the body of the unknown man was found, Eye Radio 98.6 reported.

The deceased was described as wearing a pair of jeans and a black long-sleeve shirt. He was in his thirties.

A man who lives near where the body was found told Eye Radio that the cause of the man’s death was not known. He said no blood stains could be seen to indicate that he was either beaten to death or shot dead.

“It looks like he died somewhere and was just dumped here. The way I see it, maybe he was killed by someone, because a drunk person cannot come from a long distance and just fall down under the bridge. We don’t know who has done it,” he said.

Police officers at the scene declined to comment. Residents of the area said they were afraid because they anticipated a police search.

The discovery follows the fatal shooting last week of another man in the same area, at Gudele Block Five.
