A boat carrying provisions from Juba meant for police at Bentiu training center has reportedly capsized in Adok River according to authorities in Leer County.

The boat was carrying food, police uniforms, and assorted items.

The Commissioner of Leer County Stephen Taker Riak told Radio Tamazuj Thursday that the incident happened last Monday.

“The boat capsized with 1,739 police uniforms and 300 wildlife uniforms and other food supplies capsized in Adok River,” Riak explained.

He stated that a rescue team went to the scene on Thursday and recovered some of the items including 107 uniforms.

“As I speak now, we recovered 700 uniforms after the boat capsized in Adok two days back and 39 uniforms were found along the Upper Nile water flow,” he said.

According to Taker Riak, the boat had hit another boat that was grounded in the water.

He added that no casualty was reported in the incident.

“The good thing is nobody has been reported dead during the boat capsize and it’s only uniform and food items that we have lost during the incident,” he added.

The national police spokesperson Maj. Gen. Daniel Justin also confirmed the incident.

He said another consignment of uniforms will be sent to the training center.

“The board of defense chaired by security advisor Tut Gatluak will have plans to deliver other goods to the training center in the Kaljock training to those whose uniforms got capsized in Adok river,” he noted.
