Blue Nile woman and daughter allegedly raped and shot

A woman and girl have died in the Blue Nile state hospital allegedly after being raped and shot in Fadima area. Elsewhere in the state seven civilians were injured by bombs dropped by the Sudanese air force.

Citizens from Fadima area of Blue Nile reported that a mother and her daughter of 8 years old died after being raped by members of the Sudanese armed forces. They said that the two later died at Damazin Hospital.

Relatives and sources explained that a woman called Kubri Fajo and her child were on their way searching for the firewood in Fadima area when they were stopped by the Sudanese armed forces, tied and raped, and then later shot.

Family members are worried that their bodies were not yet released to them. Citizens from Blue Nile region condemned the incident and asked the UN and international community to protect civilians in Blue Nile and pressure Khartoum to allow relief organizations to assist the affected people of the region.

Meanwhile, continuous air strikes were reported in parts of the state under control of SPLM-N, last week including the areas Wadaka, Shangkol and Balila. As a result, seven civilians from the same family were injured including four children and two women.

The victims were identified as Jarun Hamdun the head of the household, Lajna Ahamed and Sijada Sangug , in addition to four children as follows: Khalifa Jarun (1 year), Babaoya Jarun, Lafa Jarun, and Sultana Jarun. They are now receiving treatment in the areas under the control of the SPLM-North.
