Blue Nile refugees in South Sudan denounce shortage of food

The situation of Blue Nile refugees living in South Sudan camps are reportedly worsening as residents of different sites are reportedly experiencing a shortage of food. Refugees of camps Doro, Jendresa, and Yusuf Batil in Upper Nile are the most affected by the current crisis.

According to refugees, the amount of nutriments provided by organizations is “insufficient”. They attribute the problems to the swelling number of people reaching the camps.

“The food given to us by the organizations is not enough. Now some families buy additional food from the market, but many refugees cannot afford it as they don't have jobs,” a source explained.

Camps residents are demanding human rights organizations to increase not only food rations, but also their diversity so that it contains also “healthy items.”
