Blue Nile refugees in S Sudan complain of food shortages

Refugees from Sudan’s Blue Nile state in Maban county of South Sudan's Upper Nile state have complained of shortages of food.

Achol Sebit, a refugee in Batail displacement camp told Radio Tamazuj they are living in dire condition due to shortages of food.

“The situation in Batail camp is very dire and we were getting good food ration in the past but now we only get three malwa," said Sebit, referring to three cups of grain.

She added that UNHCR did not fulfill its promises to provide food ration as it was in the past.

She noted that refugees are depending on tree leaves to stay alive.

Refugees have cautioned that the situation will deteriorate further if food is not provided urgently.
