Blue Nile refugees at Jendrasa camp in Maban County in Sudan’s South Upper Nile state said that they have prepared themselves for the start of Ramadan on Thursday 27 June.
Several refugees confirmed to Radio Tamazuj their readiness for the fasting month, and expressed happiness for the holy month this year, saying families have prepared all the requirements needed during the Ramadan.
“Allah is the greatest. I assure you that we are ready for Ramadan even with the little things we have in the camp,” said one of the refugees. “I also invite all staff of Radio Tamazuj to join us next year, inshallah (God willing).”
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. Muslims worldwide observe this as a month of fasting. This annual observance is regarded as one of the five pillars of Islam.
