The Blue Nile State refugees in Doro in Maban County of Upper Nile state in South Sudan were reportedly refused their relocation to Kaya camp by the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

The UNHCR reportedly initiated the necessary steps to relocate the refugees to Kaya camp after it had held protracted meetings with the sheikhs and chiefs in the camp.

“After continued meetings between the refugees and UN organisation the Blue Nile refugees have insisted and refused any relocation because they prefer to stay in Doro camp” a source confirmed.

“In a meeting held after yesterday in that regard we had totally refused any idea of relocation. As for the yesterday meeting we boycotted it because all the refugees were vehemently refusing to go to Kaya camps for refugees” Al Omda Khuja Mamuor said.

The Blue Nile refugees threaten the organisation with the return to their state which witnessed fierce battles between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Sudan’s People Liberation Army North (SPLA-N).

The Doro refugees disclosed that their living condition is improving, contrary to what is being reported by the UN organisations.
