Blue Nile NCP leaders threaten to run as independent election candidates

Leading members of Sudan’s ruling National Congress Party in Blue Nile state have threatened to run in the upcoming general elections as independents if Khartoum imposes incompetent candidates on their region.

Leading members of Sudan’s ruling National Congress Party in Blue Nile state have threatened to run in the upcoming general elections as independents if Khartoum imposes incompetent candidates on their region.

Omda Khalid Madeni, one of the local leaders, told Radio Tamazuj that several politicians in Bout area are grumbling about marginalization of certain members within the ruling party.

He said they presented a petition to the presidency over lack of services and what he termed as “takeover of land” by the governor for investment purposes as well.

The Omda further complained about internal problems facing the party institutions.
