Blue Nile MPs threaten resignations

A group of parliamentarians from Blue Nile threatened to submit their resignations from the national parliament if the government continues to refuse to allow international organizations to delivery humanitarian assistance to Blue Nile State.

The head of the SPLM parliamentary bloc, Kumudan Joda, addressed the parliament on Monday saying they are bracing to submit mass resignations from parliament if the government insists on not allowing delivery of humanitarian assistance,

He criticized violently the parliament for not demanding a hearing on the tripartite agreement between the SPLM-North and National Congress, League of Arab States, African Union and the United Nations on the delivery of aid to the states of Blue Nile and Southern Kordofan. He described this as contempt for the masses of the Blue Nile.

Kumudan Joda was one of several MPs from the state who returned to the parliament late last year, at the invitation of President Omar Al Bashir, in spite of the insurrection waged by their associates in the Sudan People’s Liberation Army. He has called for peace in the state.
