Blue Nile citizens in Geissan report high market prices

Citizens in Geissan locality in Sudan’s Blue Nile State are complaining about increasing prices of essential commodities at the market and lack of employment opportunities in the area.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, several residents expressed discontent about unemployment, failing agricultural season this year and rising prices of commodities at the market.

“A small bushel of onions has reached 120 SDG and a kilogram of sugar costs 10 SDG, and the other essential commodities are also rising in prices,” one local resident said.
