Bieh State Governor urges citizens to be self-reliant on food

The governor of the SPLM-In Opposition’s Bieh State on Thursday urged citizens to cultivate food and to not worry about rumors of government attacks on Akobo.

Col. Kong Gatkuoth Kerjok told the people of Akobo and Bieh State at large to freely engage in cultivation without fear, saying the Lou Nuer people have a history of self reliance by producing their own food since 2005.

He further dismissed the ability of the government troops to take the area.

“This is a cheap propaganda designed by enemies of peace and Juba based people who like to see Lou Nuer areas destroyed and this will not happen,” he said.

Kong was speaking to citizens upon his return to Akobo East following the SPLM-IO’s leadership conference in Pagak last month. He also briefed the populace about the results of the conference.
