An official in Unity State says that eight rebels were captured in the clashes which happened on Monday between the SPLA and the rebels forces near Bentiu town. He says they were not mistreated.

Director General in the Unity State Ministry of Information Khan Nien reported that two of the eight captured rebel soldiers were wounded. He said the captives were sent to Juba.

Khan told Radio Tamazuj that there were a lot of losses on the side of the rebels without mentioning the number of soldiers killed on either side. He noted that the prisoners were treated well.

“Right now their condition is okay because when they were with us before they were transferred to Juba we used to chat with them because they are sons of the same area,” he stated.

The SPLA headquarters has not yet confirmed this report or whether the prisoners arrived in Juba or not.
