Basketball envoy concludes visit to S Sudan

Deputy Chairman of the Technical Committee of the Federation International Basketball (FIBA) Lubomir Kotleba has today concluded his visit to South Sudan, saying that he has found that people in the country love basketball and predicting that it will be one of the best countries in the sport.

Lubomir spoke Sunday during a match at Nimratalata basketball stadium.

He said that he wishes to come to South Sudan once again to see that peace has become a reality. The envoy of the international basketball federation had arrived Friday on a tour of African countries.

For his part, President of the South Sudan Basketball Federation Robert Benjamin thanked Lubomir on for his visit to south Sudan and said this confirms the support of FIBA to South Sudan.

Matches were held in honor of Lubomir’s visit including a math for young people, senior players as well as girls.

South Sudan became a member of FIBA in a decision endorsed by the federation’s governing body in Buenos Aires, Argentina in November 2013.

The country will be put into consideration for participation in the World Cup of Basketball in 2017, according to the secretary-general of the South Sudan basketball federation, Achuil Bangoul.
