Bashir says pipeline will resume when border is secure

Sudanese president Omar Al Bashir has said he will not allow South Sudan to resume exporting oil through Sudan’s territory unless the two countries reach a settlement regarding the border dispute.

On Tuesday Bashir said ‘South Sudan closed the pipeline but the key to restart it lies with Khartoum.’

He added that ‘Sudan will determine when the pipeline can be opened after security has been reinstated and all threats to Sudanese citizens and the border have been quashed.’
