Bari and Mundari plan for peace meeting

Mundari cattle camp leaders met with Bari leaders on Saturday to discuss the movement of cattle keepers and management of herds. They are also planning for a peace conference on 5-6 June in Juba.

According to Mundari Chief Alfons Modie, the meeting on Saturday discussed the handing over of cattle that belonged to Bari that were being kept by Mundari herdsmen. The Mundari herders are preparing to leave Bari pastures and return to Terekeka County.

“The cows of the Bari were in the hands of the Mundari, they were looking after them. But now the decree of the president says that everybody should go to their county,” said the chief.

Cattle camp leaders and chiefs and elders from Juba attended, as well as MPs from the state and national assemblies.
