Commercial banks will open in Juba in the coming days after closures Monday and Tuesday owing to heavy fighting within the city.

Ajo Noel, a legal advisor for Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) in South Sudan, told Radio Tamazuj banks would open as from today as usual.

Customers and staff of the bank confirmed that some KCB branches were open for at least part of the day today, including KCB Buluk, which operated as normal. The one near the security office in Jebel opened only briefly. Other retail banks including Equity Bank remained closed today but may open tomorrow.
