Several banks must turn over Sudanese assets worth $315 million dollars in compensation for victims of the bombing of the USS Cole in a Yemen port in 2000 which killed 17 sailors and injured 42.
Several sailors and three of their spouses sued Sudan in federal court in 2010 alleging the country supplied materials to al-Qaeda who is thought responsible for the attack, Law360 reported.
In 2010 Sudan failed to respond after being served a lawsuit through its embassy in Washington DC.
The assets of Sudan are held by various banks, including Mashreq Bank, BNP Paribas, and Credit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank.
