Ban Ki-Moon calls for Sudan to withdraw from Abyei

The UN secretary general Ban Ki-moon has called for the Sudanese government to withdraw its troops from the disputed Abyei area. A spokesman for the secretary general said he called on the two governments to adhere to the deadline set by the security council to withdraw to allow conditions to start negotiations on all outstanding differences. He added that the UN welcomes South Sudan’s withdrawal from the area.
