The family of Joseph Bangasi Bakosoro, the jailed formeer governor of South Sudan’s Western Equatoria state, is demanding their son be released as he marks three months in jail today.

Bakosoro was arrested by National Security Services on 22 December 2015 and has been held ever since at their Jebel headquarters.

His sister Dudu Bakosoro told Radio Tamazuj Monday that there has been no investigation conducted or charges announced against him. She said in a recent visit his health was deteriorating.

“He is still there, he has not yet been released,” Dudu said. “These days we have been able see him, and every Sunday we go to visit him. But his health is not good, but it has improved a little bit when we visited him yesterday.”

A relative of former governor Joseph Bakasoro previously told Radio Tamazuj that they believe NSS arrested him on accusations that he is communicating with armed groups in Western Equatoria.
