Former Western Equatoria state Governor Bangasi Joseph Bakasoro was released Friday without charges after a four-day detention in Juba.

Bakosoro was arrested Sunday after President Salva Kiir issued a decree relieving him of his position, along with three other governors.

Bakosoro confirmed to Radio Tamazuj that he was released today and has now returned to his home.

“I have just arrived home and I don’t have anything now to say to the media,” he said. “I have arrived home in peace. I want to change clothes and take a shower.”
