Women in Northern Bahr El Ghazal plan to organise a peaceful protest today in the state capital of Aweil against the hostilities and killing in the country.
The women, most of them civil society leaders and intellectuals, on Friday handed a request to the state police and security for approval of their planned protest actions.
Speaking to Gurtong Net, the women said they had planning a peaceful rally on Monday last week, but the process was delayed.
“We are preparing for Monday. Hopefully all women will join our march in this town to show our rejection of the hostilities and rampant killing of our beloved citizens of South Sudan,” a woman explained.
“As mothers of these citizens, we would like to show our concerns of these deaths and request for an immediate halt.”
The march will start at Aweil El Madina to Freedom Square where the women will hand over their petition to the relevant state authorities. The women will wear white T-shirts to symbolise peace.
