People from Bahr el Ghazal region in South Sudan have launched a peace and reconciliation initiative in Lakes state, according to the chairman of Bahr el Ghal Peace Initiative Committee.
Charman Deng Makuac told Radio Tamazuj Monday that people from Western Bahr el Ghazal, Northern Bahr el Ghazal, Lakes, and Warrap have come up with a program for peace in Lakes which is being affected by inter-communal fighting.
Makuac said they have already submitted reports on their plans to the governors of Bahr el Ghazal region. He called on the governors to support the push to end revenge killings in Lakes.
The chairman of the committee said leaders should select a delegation to Lakes state in order to start a reconciliation process.
