Baggari residents lack clean water

Residents in Greater Baggari County in South Sudan’s Wau State are in need of clean drinking water, a local opposition official said.

Baggari is situated in the southern part of Wau town. Residents of the area have been in dire need of basic services since the conflict erupted in the state.

Addressing a group of citizens at Ngodakala area on Tuesday, the opposition appointed commissioner of Baggari County, Francis Andrea pointed out that the lack of clean drinking water has forced residents to fetch water from water sources that are far away from their areas.

“The conflict has destroyed basic services in the area. Citizens are suffering due to shortages of drinking water in their villages,” he said.

The SPLM-IO official has appealed to international NGOs to provide clean drinking water to the local population.
