Baggari community demands representation in government

The community of Baggari area in South Sudan’s Wau State has complained about lack of its representation in the national government in Juba.

The complaint came during a consultative meeting between community leaders of the area and local authorities in Wau town on Wednesday.

David Santino, a community leader in Baggari, said that his community needs to be represented in the National Legislative Assembly, Council of States and Wau state assembly.

“About 85% of the people are from Baggari, and the area is big and blessed with a fertile land. So, we demand more representation in the state, even now we don’t have representatives in the national assembly and the council of states,” he said.

Separately, local residents in Wau complained about rampant insecurity owing to increasing prices at the market in Wau town.
