A wounded person was found Friday morning at around 7:00 a.m. dumped beside a car that broke down weeks ago in Nyakuron, one of the suburbs of Juba.

The man who seemed to be in his early 30s was found by people in the area and passersby who saw that he was still breathing but suffered wounds and swelling on his head, bruises on both hands and with blood seen from his nose.

He was found about 400 meters from the National Security Service building with his trousers pulled down, half naked, and his vest nearly removed.

Eyewitnesses from the area said they noted a person lying in the garbage site in the morning while bringing dirt to the site but they were not sure when the victim had been left there.

“I came very early in the morning at 7:00 a.m. to pour dirt here when I saw a human being lying, when I looked is still breathing,” an eyewitness said, noting that the victim was also able to raise his hand.

Passersby gathered before any government officials reached the scene but at about 8:15 a.m. three 777 police cars came to the scene. They then disputed among themselves as to which vehicle the victim should be put in.

Some shouted from their cars that they had no space for the victim while one police said, “We cannot leave him – if you do not want to take him bring him here near me and put him under this seat.”

Residents witnessing the event jeered at the way the police handled the victim when being put on the car saying, “You delayed to come and you hold a person in a bad way yet he is not dead.”

The victim was taken for medical treatment.
