Northern Bahr el Ghazal State’s Ministry of General and Instruction on Tuesday carried out an educational campaign in Aweil South County to promote education among local communities.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday, Aweil South County Commissioner Luka Thel Thel confirmed that the high-level education drive was concluded successfully in the town of Malek Alek in Aweil South County.
“The back to learning campaign was successfully concluded today (Tuesday) in the presence of Northern Bahr el Ghazal State Minister of General Education and Instruction Santino Bol Akook plus education directors, traditional chiefs, and women and it was recommended that all children must attend school,” he said.
The commissioner also stated that the campaign emphasized no segregation between boys and girls when comes to their educational journey.
“No child is left behind and there is no differentiation between boys and girls when comes to education and this what we are fighting for in Malek Alel town in Aweil South County,” Thel added.
On his part, Piol Geng Ariath, the Paramount Chief of the Buonchuai Community in Aweil South County, expressed the commitment of the local chiefs in supporting education and fighting the early and forced marriages.
“People were discussing about the importance of education and that children must be taken back to school,” he said. “We will fight against early and forced marriages and any marriage of girls who have not completed their education is unacceptable.”
