Police in South Sudan’s Aweil state rescued a 3-week-old baby who had been dumped into a pit latrine at Udhum area in Chimel County earlier this week.

Police in South Sudan’s Aweil state rescued a 3-week-old baby who had been dumped into a pit latrine at Udhum area in Chimel County earlier this week.

The police commissioner in Aweil state, Major General Elia Kosta, told Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday that the police entered into the latrine and retrieved the baby.

The police chief in the state pointed out that police officers will be deployed to search for the baby’s mother. He explained that the baby has been admitted to MSF’s new born facility.
