A newborn baby who went missing from Nimule hospital more than two months ago was reunited with her mother on Monday, according to an aid group supporting the hospital.
During the night of 23 January, a newborn baby girl went missing from the Maternity Unit at Nimule Hospital.
An organization that supports the hospital, Save the Children, said in a press release today that it worked closely with local authorities and the community to seek the child’s safe return.
“The police recovered the baby on 26 February 2015, following new information provided by a member of the public. The suspect is now in custody, with police investigations ongoing,” reads the statement.
Since she was found, the baby was under the care of Nimule Hospital until police made the decision to allow the child to return home with the mother.
Save the Children announced its appreciation to the community and the police for their commitment to the safe recovery of the child.
