Babanusa residents: high prices after fuel subsidies lifted

Several residents of Babanusa, West Kordofan, are discontent about the rising prices of essential goods and commodities at the local market “following the lifting of fuel subsidies by the national government.”

A local source told Radio Tamazuj that a gallon of diesel rose from SSP17 to SSP 40. Transporation proces also increased, he said, noting that a ticket from Babanusa to Mujlad now costs SSP 40, while a ticket from Babanusa to Al Fula rose from SSP50 to SSP70.

“Meanwhile, our salaries have not increased to meet the higher living standards,” the source concluded.
