Citizens in Babanusa locality in Sudan’s West Kordofan State are complaining about increasing prices and scarcity of essential commodities at the market.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, several residents said they couldn’t afford basic goods due to high costs.
“A sack of charcoal has reached 80 SDG and a cistern of cooking gas costs 400 SDG,” one local resident said. “A sack of onions is for 1000 SDG, while the prices of flour and cooking oil have increased dramatically.”
The citizens attributed the problem to conflict in Sudan and lack of development projects that could create employment opportunities for jobless people.
