Aweil town to host cross-border peace conference in November

A cross-border peace conference between Abyei, West Kordofan, East Darfur and greater Bahr el Ghazal will take place in Aweil town in early November, according to a Northern Bahr al Ghazal state official.

Kuol Athuai, adviser for cross-border relations in the state, confirmed to Radio Tamazuj that the necessary arrangements are in place for the conference to begin in November.

He pointed out that the cross-border peace conference will bring together Ngok Dinka, Misseriya, and Rizeigat tribes, besides other tribes in Raja County and Warrap State.

Athuai noted that the conference aims at discussing issues pertaining to social peace along the Sudan-South Sudan borders.

The state has recently hosted a cross-border peace conference that brought together 250 participants from Misseriya, Dinka Malual and other tribes from four states of Sudan and South Sudan.
