Fire broke out in Northern Bahr el Ghazal’s Aweil town on Thursday morning burning 6 houses and all properties within them.
Residents said that the fire began in a room when nobody was inside. The Deputy Mayor Simon Tong Deng confirmed the incident calling it unfortunate for those who lost a lot of belongings.
He appreciated the role played by the neighbors to rescue two victims. According to Simon, the Aweil Municipal Council will start to resurvey Ayuang Residential Area in a proper way by opening alleyways, main roads, and open spaces so that fire will not break out.
