South Sudan’s Aweil State governor says his government will organize peace rallies across the state to disseminate the revitalized peace agreement to the communities.
Governor Jal Malith Jal who spoke over the weekend in Aweil after he attended the peace celebrations in Juba last month said once arrangements are complete, the rallies will begin.
“We will embark on peace rallies. We will hold them everywhere, right here at the state headquarters and in counties and down to villages. We will not leave any corner. We will use every opportunity to disseminate peace messages,” he said.
Jal added, “it is the message of hope, of harmony, of forgiveness, reconciliation, and recommitment to reuniting our people so that, together we move forward and open a new page of dialogue and consensus.”
The governor said while attending the celebrations in Juba, he was impressed by how happy South Sudanese were and said it was a clear sign that they were tired of war and were ready for peace.
