Aweil state still working on constitution
Aweil state information minister says the government will soon complete the endorsement of the state constitution.
Last year, Aweil state legislative assembly sent the draft constitution to the office of the governor for endorsement, but the draft is yet to be signed into law.
Minister Deng Deng told Radio Tamazuj on Monday that the government has assigned committees to finalize the process, saying the state is operating with the defunct Northern Bahr el Ghazal state constitution until the endorsement of the new constitution.
“Now the state government is trying its best in appointing committees to review former constitution of Northern Bahr el Ghazal with aim to establish a new constitution for the state. If there is no new constitution and there is old one, the government will work with old constitution until arrival of new one,” said Deng.
