Members of the Aweil state parliament have elected a new deputy speaker on Wednesday after deliberations.

Benson Upuothmalo was elected as the new deputy speaker replacing Nyibol Achor Dhel who had been appointed as state adviser for peace in the state.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday, Deng Ayom Ayom, the Aweil state parliamentary speaker confirmed the election and said the deputy has been selected unanimously by the house.

The new official has sworn into office in the presence of several government officials and communities leaders.
