Members of the Aweil state legislative assembly on Wednesday passed into law a social household tax bill expected to regulate the collection of taxes by the state government from households across the state.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday, the chairperson of the state parliamentary committee for legal affairs, Kon Deng Chan, said the law will help the state government raise funds for service delivery.
He further said that according to the new law, every household will pay a tax of 200 SSP except for disabled and poor persons. Those who violate the law will attract a fine and/or possible arrest.
