Aweil State's Government has proposed eight new counties for the state, in accordance with guidelines issued by the Council of States in Juba.

In interview with Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday, the Aweil State Minister of Information, Culture, Youth and Sport James Wieu said that the eight counties proposal has been sent to the Council of the States and Boundaries Committee.

According to the proposal, Aweil South County is split into three new counties, Aweil Center was divided into two counties plus there will be counties of Ajuet Mawein Diing, Ariakriak and Chimel Kuach.

The state will also include one municipality, Aweil.
