Aweil state assembly selects parliamentary leadership

The speaker of Aweil State parliament, Deng Deng Ayom, has announced the appointment of heads of the specialized committees, following consultations with the state governor and party officials.

Former education minister, Kon Deng Chan, according to the speaker, has been appointed the chairman of legal affairs, local government and law enforcement and peace and reconciliation. Santino Manyuat Ngong was named the chairman of finance, public accounts, trade and investment and public service.

The former government chief whip, Benson Upuoth Malo, was named the chairman of information, culture, youth and sports and affairs and parliamentary affairs. Ajong Akot Akol was named the chairperson of agriculture, forestry and animal committee.

Former security advisor, Akot Kiir Ayii, was appointed the chairperson for security, physical infrastructure and water resources and Arkanjelo Biet Wol Abiem was selected as the chairman of health, education, gender, child and social welfare committee.

The leadership took the oath of office on Monday before the speaker, his deputy and head of judiciary in the state.
