The newly appointed manager of the Aweil rice scheme announced that the project will be expanded and grow to 3,000 hectares during this year’s farming season.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj last week, Ahou Deng Kuot, the new manager of the Aweil rice scheme, said the plan aims at improving the level of production this year. This year’s rice cultivation will make “much progress” compared to last year, according to Ahou.
Ahou stated that he discussed with businessmen and government officials to find ways to provide manures and pesticides, which are among other problems that may affect the project.
