Aweil has received a shipment of fuel from the national government in Juba for carrying out mechanized agriculture this year, according to the governor of the newly decreed ‘Aweil State’, a loyalist of Salva Kiir.
Governor Ronald Ruai Deng, who was appointed by Salva Kiir to head the government of the new successor state, one of three new states carved out of Northern Bahr el Ghazal, said his government is committed for agriculture this year.
“We are happy today to receive the first batch of fuel arriving from Juba. This fuel is meant for agriculture. We have taken our president’s call for putting agriculture first seriously. We are starting our planning for this planting season early. The arrival of this fuel shows our seriousness to put agriculture first, to cultivate and be able to feed ourselves in the state and also support our neighboring states if possible,” said Deng.
Deng noted, however, that his state was expecting to receive tractors from the national government in Juba but still had not received any. He promised that he would disclose to the general public of Aweil State when his government receives them.
