Police authorities in the capital of Northern Bahr el Ghazal State, Aweil, said they received seven brand new vehicles from the national government to facilitate police activities and boost security.

Police authorities in the capital of Northern Bahr el Ghazal State, Aweil, said they received seven brand new vehicles from the national government to facilitate police activities and boost security.

The vehicles are part of 150 vehicles promised by President Salva Kiir to the police force across the country to facilitate police mobility to boost security.

The vehicles arrived in Aweil on Saturday.

Northern Bahr el Ghazal police spokesman Captain Guot Guot Akol, told Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday morning that the police will now be able to protect the resident of Northern Bahr el Ghazal and their properties.

“We are very grateful and we thank the Inspector General of the Police and the leadership of the ministry of interior for taking such a bold decision in providing vehicles to police across the state,” said the police mouthpiece.

“It will help citizens and I ensure them that the police are now equipped and their properties and lives will be under police surveillance 24/7 and will strengthen the relationship between the police and the citizens across the state.”

Lack of mobility to reach crime areas has been cited by police from different parts of the country as an impediment to their work.
