The police in Aweil Center County of Northern Bahr el Ghazal State have detained Ber Dut Ber, 35, for allegedly beating a young woman to death in War Aher Boma in Barmayen Payam last week.
The county Police Inspector Brigadier General George Awath Wol told Radio Tamazuj that investigations had been launched. Still, initial reports indicate that Ber Dut attacked the late Alang Dut, 18, on 19 October for allegedly insulting his wife.
“The woman has been in disputes with a man who accused her that she insulted his wife. The man immediately punched the woman and killed her,” he said. “But the family members came together and have allowed the matter to be investigated by the police.”
Officials added that it was later determined that the late was a wife to the suspect’s uncle.
Aweil Center County Commissioner, Peter Natale, also confirmed the incident saying the suspect killed his uncle’s wife.
“Someone killed his uncle’s wife called Alang Dut, 18, in the War Aher area and the killer is now in police custody. He beat the woman and thought the injury was minor but unfortunately the victim died on the spot,” revealed the commissioner.
